Agreed.

Wouldn't work for me - may be browser specific.
Setting the overflow property to scroll indeed proved it was still
there, but that's not a practical long term solution.

Well that works to stop the top of the main content getting cropped,
but it destroys the column background equalizing it was originally
designed to achieve. One step forward one step back.
