button padding in FF

Sent by sam foster on 7 May 2008 17:05

Hmm. the plot thickens.
In mozilla's forms.css is where it all happens:

button::-moz-focus-inner,
input[type="reset"]::-moz-focus-inner,
input[type="button"]::-moz-focus-inner,
input[type="submit"]::-moz-focus-inner,
input[type="file"] > input[type="button"]::-moz-focus-inner {
  padding: 0px 2px 0px 2px;
  border: 1px dotted transparent;
}

button:focus::-moz-focus-inner,
input[type="reset"]:focus::-moz-focus-inner,
input[type="button"]:focus::-moz-focus-inner,
input[type="submit"]:focus::-moz-focus-inner,
input[type="file"] > input[type="button"]:focus::-moz-focus-inner {
  border-color: ButtonText;
}

if you zap the border, you remove the ability to focus that button
(e.g. via the keyboard). However now I know what I'm dealing with
(none of this stuff - including my overrides shows up in firebug btw)
