I then changed it to 30px. This seems to solve the problem of the
header text rising above the top margin. The beginning position of
this header seems to vary in browsers, but I guess I can live with
that.

Which is what was going to do. I didn't take too much out actually, I
modified some things. The layout works so well, I don't want to mess
with what makes it work, and break it! (Kind of a bummer in a way -
not like I can say I really designed the site, as it were. But hey it
works.)

Ok, you convinced me. I have been fearing EMs forever, but I looked
at your code, set my body to 76% and used ems. It seems to be working
pretty good. Its the unknown error, that you mention, that scares me.
And Macs...

I'm a bit worried about that, simply because the left and right
columns are set to specific widths, some things you want control over
(like the upper left logo).
Thanks for the advice - if you all could take a look at my page now
at:

I've got it where I want to put real stuff in it. Just wanted some
opinions and another check to make sure its okay, especially now that
I am using ems and in a Mac too. For me on the PC it looks find in
IE5.5, Moz1 and NN6.2.
Thanks!
Tom
