Exactly. One can also use negatives. My understanding is that the body
content is assumed to be at 0, the first DIV is assumed to be 1 and
successive DIVs stack in front in the order they appear in the code.
z-index allows this stacking order to be changed without altering the
page code. To place a DIV behind the main content it can be given a
negative such as "z-index: -1".
