Safe cross-browser way I always use:

border-width: 1px;
border-style: solid;
border-color: #eeeeee;

NN4 doesn't seem to understand the shorthand notation.

If you want to enable only one border, do border-left-width or
border-top-style or whatever you need. However, sometimes it is necessary to
make either style or color general (so border-color, even though you define
border-left-width and border-left-style).
