The page will not work as intended regardless of the browser being used.
Granted the file is valid. But this in and of itself is no guarantee for
success. Starting over with a clean sheet that provides a simple
structural layout foundation, encloses the floats, and clears them is
your best bet. If you do not get a better offer, write me off-list. I
will attempt to get you started.
