: I'm building a new homepage for a university. Since especially universities
: often still use Netscape 4.x the site must be compatible with this
: unfortunate browser too.
: Would you recommend to use a separate stylesheet for Netscape 4.x?
Ines,
yes, I do usually recommend using two stylesheets. By using two sheets you have a
lot to play with to make NN4.xx look nice without punishing the 80% of visitors
that use browsers that are more 'contemporary'.
: why. What are the disadvantages of using two different style sheets? What is
: the best way of implementing this trick?
The unfortunate thing is that NN4.xx is quite a quirky browser when it comes to
CSS. Some of the more reproducible issues (and workarounds) as well as an
explanation for the use of two stylesheets and how to implement them can be found
