Printing drop-capital

Sent by Lars Bruzelius on 11 May 2007 13:01

An 18th century text which I am currently
transcribing requires text before the initial
drop-capital letter of the following sentence.

CSS:
..first {text-indent: 0em}
..left {float: left; width: 2em}
..first:first-letter {float: left; font-size: 3.2em; font-weight: bold}

HTML:
<div class="left">S.D.</div>
<p class="first">Föredrogs Amiralitets-Collegii
underdåniga Förslag, af den 27 sistl. Februarii, ...</p>

This displays more or less as expected in the
most recent versions of Firefox, Internet
Explorer, and Opera. However, when printing,
Internet Explorer inserts a linebreak after the
drop-cap. Is this a bug or have overlooked something?
