Colour not showing in background in class

Hmm, your banner div contains only floated elements, which are removed 
from the flow, so standards-compliant browsers rightfully don't render 
the containing div because it has zero height.

Sorry, I don't remember the official ways to contain floats, but the 
list wiki will probably have them all.
