[css-d] Strange IE5.5/W2k behaviour with nested divs

Sent by Haiko Hebig on 5 July 2002 06:06

A question regarding margings in nested divs; strange behaviour of
IE5.5/W2k. Example is at http://www.hebig.org/temp/padding.html , styles
are inline.

Main div has 20 px padding, inner div floats right and has a padding of
5px and bottom and left margin of 50 px. While Mozilla and Opera render
the page as expected, IE 5.5/W2k adds the 50px (left) margin of the
inner div as additional margin to the first line of the main div.
Screenshots are at http://www.hebig.org/temp/padding_shots.html

I wonder what's wrong with the code and would be glad if anyone around
had a solution for the IE5.5/W2k behaviour.

Haiko
