[css-d] Strange Problem with @import and alternate css for NS 4

Sent by David McDonald on 30 January 2002 08:08

Hi All,

At my site at http://www.davidmcdonald.org , I have been using the following
piece of Javascript in order to serve up different style sheets to older
browsers:

Now, I want to use the @import method instead, so I have set up a test
version using at http://www.davidmcdonald.org/test.asp that uses the
following:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="common/css/older.css"
media="screen">
<style type="text/css">@import url("common/css/compliant.css");</style>

The first CSS is for NS 4 etc, the second for standards compliant
browsers...or so I thought.

As you can see at the test URL above, it gives a strange result in IE 5.5,
NS 6 and Opera.

Here's the page with just the @import only :
http://www.davidmcdonald.org/test2.asp

Can anyone see what am I doing wrong? Thanks....
