Hi Christian,
First: I like this kind of experiments/inventions! :-)
Second: I see some complications...(Win98SE):

- In FF1.07 (1024x768, fontsize: normal) the container with the
floating 3 images is displaying also the bottom parts of the images; IE6
is giving back only the top half.
See screenshot 1 <http://www.cosbo-amsterdam.nl/tmp/images/mir-test1.gif>.

- In FF when the images are turned off, only in the 1-image box the ALT
text can be seen completely. In the floating 3 there is only the first
ALT-line.
See upper part of screenshot 2
<http://www.cosbo-amsterdam.nl/tmp/images/mir-test2.gif>.

- In FF when hovering over the 1-image box, this box is imploding to 1
line with ALT-text, and doesn't come back when hovering away (mouseOut).
See bottom part of screenshot 2
<http://www.cosbo-amsterdam.nl/tmp/images/mir-test2.gif>.

- In FF when hovering over a line in the 3-images box, this
line/ALT-text is extending to 2 lines, but still not readable. But ...
here at a mouseOut the complete ALT-text is showed, and it stays on screen.
See bottom part of screenshot 2
<http://www.cosbo-amsterdam.nl/tmp/images/mir-test2.gif>.

- In Opera 8.01 when images are turned off, there is nothing to see in
the containers; also the hover-option doesn't exist anymore.
See screenshot 3
<http://www.cosbo-amsterdam.nl/tmp/images/mir-test-opera.gif>.

(now my time for today is over)
So far,
greetings, and good luck with it!
francky
