css header how-to?

Sent by Will Wyatt on 28 March 2006 03:03

I break up my files for development. I'm green enought at CSS it helps
me keep everything separate in my head.

I mocked up a single page that shows the same space under the images.
I only get the space below the image after I declare the doctype. If I
leave the doctype off, I don't get the space.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<style>
#pageWrapper
{
	margin: 0;
	width: 751px;
	min-width: 500px;
	margin-left: auto;
	margin-right: auto;
}
#container1
{
	background-color: red;
 	overflow: auto;
}
#image1
{
	float: left;
}
#image2
{
	float: right;
}
</style>
<head>

</head>
<body>
<div id="pageWrapper">
	<div id="container1">
		<div id="image1">
			<img src="http://www.highlandchurch.org/images/logo.jpg">
		</div>
		<div id="image2">
			<img src="http://www.highlandchurch.org/images/home_banner.jpg">
		</div>
	</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
