Inspired by http://www.webstandards.org/ I have taken up the challenge of
advocating web standards and CSS layouts on a small webmasters forum I
participate in. It is proving a lot harder than I expected. The biggest
problem I am having is convincing them that CSS designs can look good.
Personally I love the elegance and style demonstrated in such sites as the
WaSP Site, www.scottandrew.com etc - but my targets do not share my opinions:
" that looks like toss and you wouldn't get your average net user to give
that a second glance.... " (said about the WaSP site)
Does anyone know of any "busy" CSS layout sites - nothing minimalistic,
sites that take more of the Yahoo / Lycos "cram a whole load of stuff on to
a page" approach. I want to convince these people that using web standards
does not limit you to simple, "boring" designs (their words, not mine).
Some wizzy photoshop graphics and good old fashioned clutter could work
wonders for my argument :)
Thanks,
Simon
