Gray is good, and so is your design. Rather than simplistic, I think it's
provocative, clear, intuitive and elegant - yet most definately not a
Hallmark card. I'm on a Mac in IE 5.1:

I do have a few tweaks to suggest:

A little more color contrast. I'd go slightly lighter with the BG in the
areas with text blocks, and slightly darker in the other areas. It will not
only make the blue links more visible and dramatic looking, it will make
everything a little easier to read. I'd also make the mouseovers a dark
maroon or gold; it looks wishy-washy ot And since you're using text only nav
elements, this is especially important. I'd use this color for the "updates"
too.

Because you've got this big block of text in the center column, it would be
a good idea to emphasize the separate areas by using type for the subheads
that is more contrasty - I'd put the subheads in bold black serif type, and
make the body copy type smaller. This will establish clumps of information
areas and create visual interest to what could look like a big mass of stuff
to read - potentially discouraging.

Since it looks like the site is about music videos, I think you can safely
assume your visitors will know what to do with a "Download" link - repeating
"click to download" isn't necessary.

"Because Bandwidth Is Expensive" looks too small on my Mac.

It's aligned left in NC 4.7
