This doesn't work because for floated elements you must specify a width.
IE allows you to get away without but Mozilla does not. And of course it's
impossible to set a width of '100%-200px' which is what you would need to
say. This is a bit of a shortcoming in CSS really.

Having a statement like 100%-200px (assuming the - meant 'minus'), and
having it work in all compliant browsers the same way, would be the CSS
equivalent of great sex, in my opinion. Are there any plans for an
approximation in CSS-3?
