Float containment problem in IE/Win

One problem with this approach: it *requires* IE6 Win to be in quirks 
mode (use of <?xml ... before the DTD).
The second problem: it is not really future proof: IE 7 will be in 
standards mode anyway (according to the IE blog), but will it support 
min-width (correctly ...) ?

Which brings us back to either the use of expressions or the use of 
Christian Montoya 's suggestion, or one of the existing variations 
(i.e.jello mold on PIE and similar).
