I used MS Front page for two years. I look back on the work I did during
that time the same way a kid looks back on his/her first experience wiping
their own _ss.

I then used Dreamweaver for two years and did better work with it than I had
with MSFP. It was more like learning to comb your hair for yourself.
Sometimes it looked good, sometimes lousy, but it almost never looked like
it was supposed to. In a sense, when looking at my hair in the Netscape
mirror, my hair looked like I shaved ONLY half of my head, and curled the
other.

A year-and-a-half ago, I started hand-coding EVERYTHING in Homesite and
EditPlus (because it loads faster than HS), in combination with TopStyle. My
partner does quite a bit of design with UD4, and I clean it up. I learned
more in the past year than I have in my whole (web) career. For Pete's sake,
I built a mini-CMS this year! And my stuff usually works pretty well, except
for the stuff that's still hanging around from the _ss wiping and _air
combing days. It's kind of like when I learned to drive competently. I can
go anywhere, and do anything...I transport myself independently. Now if I
could just get someone to work on my car...
