So you blame visual tools for that?

What's next, are we going to require folks to be able to change their car's
engine blindfolded in order to get a driver's license and enjoy the scenery?
Do you fully understand, say, black clipping, pixel aspect ratio conversion
or H-sync timing wander of the video signal when you watch basketball on TV,
let alone your web page WebTV? It'd be heck of a lot simpler, though, to
explain and work these visually.

Visualness is not inherently an impediment to understanding the
fundamentals; in can often be the sole facilitator.
