one template to rule them all

This is totally possible, using a combination of floats and absolute
position for the various divs. You could even do it without any
wrapper divs, just the five divs in the pictures. The layout wouldn't
be entirely robust, as there would be a few constraints on some of the
divs, but it would definitely work.
