Headers and footers

Sent by JOE HODGE on 19 September 2005 13:01

Thanks much for the lead. I will pursue it later tonight when I get home
and have access to the web again. I figured the post was a bit
off-topic, but when I asked on the techwr-l list this was the only good
list I got.

About the site, as mentioned it is still a work in progress. I will look
at the graphic again and play with it a bit. I do have another graphic I
was using originally that was a bit more washed out and had the
appearance of a water color. Can't remember why I switched but might
have to take another look at it. I really liked it. Thanks for the
feedback.

Thanks much,

I think you want server side includes. No time to elaborate (and anyway
I guess it's off-topic), but if you google it I'm sure you'll find
something :-)

Just a note on the site - it took a few seconds for the page background
to appear and frankly I was enjoying it a lot more before it did! The
effect could still work - try reducing the image's opacity and make it
more subtle?

Good clean, accessible html/css though.

Greetings,

First time poster and have a question you might be able to help with or
point me in the right direction. I am having very little luck finding
any info on it.

I am working on a site for a client and the header and footer are
exactly the same on each page. Is there any way to put the code for the
header into a single file and the code for the footer into a single
file? Then, rather than each page having a copy of the header and
footer, it has a line (or more) to call the code in from the file.

This way if something changes in the header or footer I do not have to
edit every single page, I just edit the header file or the footer file.
I know this could be done within Dreamweaver or FrontPage or some other
tool. However, I am looking for a solution I can implement irrespective
of the tool being used, as I much prefer to use a simple text editor
such as EditPlus.

The website is www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com
<http://www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com/> if anyone is bored and
wants to take a peek at the work in progress. Feedback always
appreciated.

I am on digest so any direct replies would be much appreciated.

Thanks much,
Joseph L. Hodge
