[css-d] "You have no background-color with your color"

Sent by Kevin W on 6 May 2002 00:12

So why should I declare my colours and background-colours together?
What if I want to leave them as the initial value? What if I want to
let them cascade or inherit values from elsewhere?

I suppose that to get rid of the warning, you specify the color:inherit
and background-color:transparent? However, I find that this causes
browsers to behave differently on their interpretations of these
values, and also complicates the stylesheet.

What are your opinions about this matter? Should I take heed to the
warnings or just ignore them?
