Dear List,
MacEdition has long looked different in Netscape 4.x than in other
CSS-capable browsers, because of a necessary workaround to this bug in the
earliest versions of Netscape Navigator 4.0 (ie 4.0-4.08).

These browser versions still constitute around 0.1-0.2% of our pageviews --
a reasonable number of people given our traffic. But after two years of the
site being live, this workaround is getting in the way of design features
that we'd like to add to the site. I'm thinking of putting an announcement
up that, from some given future date, we will be ceasing this workaround,
and requesting that users of 4.0x (as opposed to 4.x generally) turn off
JavaScript and thus stylesheets.
Do any of you still test in these versions of Navigator as well as the 4.5+
Communicator versions? Or have other sites been hitting similar bugs without
realising?
Grateful for your thoughts.
Regards,
CB
