    Sorry.  It stands for "link-visited-focus-hover-active," which is 
the recommended order for psuedoclass styling of an element.  Thus 
you would want to write:

    a:link {color: blue;}
    a:visited {color: purple;}
    a:focus {color: maroon;}
    a:hover {color: red;}
    a:active {color: green;}
