Subject: [css-d] Suckerfish-like dropdowns & Opera
I have coded my drop down (or drop up in my case) navigation using <ul>'s
and <li>'s, similar to The Son of Suckerfish
(http://www.edkingfamily.com/newdesign/index.htm).
However, it does not work in Opera and this seems to be the case for any
drop down menu created using lists. However, if I use <div>'s instead of
lists, it works in Opera -- but I've been told using lists is the correct
way to present this information.
I've checked around, and it seems Opera doesn't do well with CSS -- not only
does it not show drop downs using lists, but it has other css conflicts on
such reputable sites as http://www.alistapart.com/ and
http://www.bonnydoonvineyard.com/.
So my question is -- how important is Opera? Is it important enough to
change my drop down lists to drop down div's? Or because of its not
compliance with basic css coding, is it a browser that can be ignored until
it gets with the program?
