I'm sorry to rez this offtopic post with another offtopic post. 

Accessability seems to be so closely tied to CSS, but I know it's not
directly. Please do not use javascript to open links, even if you only
care about visual browsers. Use real links, there are so many
benefits. I'll happily continue this crusade offlist if you want to
email me.
