The how.html version falls apart badly on windows, the other version, which
I am not sure why you think it is such a mess, comes from here
<http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/> which from what I
understand, is a rather reputable CSS site.

I personally don't want to even do these menus, I have discouraged the
client against them in every way possible as I feel they do not work well
enough in all browsers to be something I would want to shove off on people.
However, there is no convincing them otherwise.
