Containing the Table Monster

Sent by Sam Brown on 21 March 2005 23:11

I'm stuck having to deal with a great big table in the
middle of my layout. I was originally having problems
with the master div not containing the extra long data
in the table, but that was fixed by setting the master
div to display: table-cell;. This works swimmingly in
the Geckos, but not quite right in IE.

have the header and footer set to a width of 100%.
Basically, I want them to expand to the width of their
parent, the master div. However, in IE, they only
expand to fit the size of the client area. When the
user scrolls horizontally to view the table, the
header and footer abrubtly stop wherever the edge of
the client area was when the page loaded.

How would I get the header and footer to match the
width of their parent?

Thanks,

-Sam
