I am a new member and this may be old news, but I couldn't find anything
about it in the archives. Under the XHTML 1.0 Strict DTD, the Mozilla
family of browsers -- up to and including at least those based on rv:1.7
-- fail to change the size of the linebox within an h1 element when part
of the text of that element is placed on a new line using a br tag,
enclosed in span tags, and then has its font size reduced using the css
font-size property.
I don't understand the constraints posed by the XHTML 1.0 Strict DTD
well enough to know whether this is really a bug, but I do know that if
it is not, it is a "feature" that is not shared by IE6 or Opera7, nor is
it shared by the Mozilla family of browsers under the transitional DTD!
Here is a link to a test page:
http://www.boatingbeta.com/test/bug1_test_strict.htm .
If this is a known bug/feature, is there a work around other than to use
the transitional DTD?
