On trick I haven't yet seen anywhere is the idea of styling an ordered
list to make a calendar. I've posted it to the blog you linked, but here
it is:

It's probably about the same value semantically as a table, but it's
definitely pretty cool to be able to do that. (and it wouldn't have been
possible with the new clearing trick...)
