[css-d] Making a div flush to the bottom of the page

Sent by Andy Budd on 23 April 2002 08:08

OK, here is a quick question for all the CSS guru's out there...

I've got a page all laid out using CSS. The client wants me to add a
graphical footer that remains flush with the bottom of the page.

If I use a <div> with a background image, the footer floats up if there is
not enough content to force it to the bottom. If I set the <body> background
to bottom though it appears at the bottom of the window, not the page (i.e.
If I have a long page the footer appears over the copy).

Can you think of any way I can do this?

I've got a dodgy hack which uses a table in the background, but I'm loath to
use it as it buggers my nice standards compliant accessibly layout.
