Relative/absolute and liquid

Sent by Vicki Skinner (Stebbins) on 27 February 2005 20:08

Hi Everyone,

I've done a bit with css but still very newbie... it seems I'm not getting
my head around things. I've been chasing my tail the last couple of days,
looked through archives, read how-to etc... but I'm not getting it!

Currently I'm doing this site
http://www.lismorewilsonmotel.com.au/index01.html (and have this site and
another to do by next Monday, so getting a little panicky)

The problems:

http://www.lismorewilsonmotel.com.au/index01.html is how I want the
homepage to look, liquid design with double line at bottom of image and
text moving to allow text to wrap around pic.

But if I put in #footer it shows on the navigation bar and the navigation
links don't work see http://www.lismorewilsonmotel.com.au/index02.html if I
make the footer 'absolute' then it won't resize without the text going
beneath the footer?

http://www.lismorewilsonmotel.com.au/booking.shtml - bottom of page
#spacerc should show thin dark line.

http://www.lismorewilsonmotel.com.au/todo.shtml - the #titles div is
absolute and when I show without the css (I want it to be viewable without
a stylesheet for text only or old browsers) the image in the div goes to
the bottom of the page.

I'm sure I'm missing something intrinsic to css and want to ensure this
site (and the other one I have to do) works well... and I'm learning it
properly, not 'stabbing in the dark'!

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Vicki
