what is wrong with the structure of this CSS?

I think you've found a bug in the CSS validator. Adding spaces before the  
CSS got me a new error each time. That can't be right. I'll get an error  
like this:
	Unknown pseudo-element or pseudo-class focu

If I add another space, I get an error like this:
	Unknown pseudo-element or pseudo-class foc

Another space:
	Unknown pseudo-element or pseudo-class fo

Your CSS seems fine. I wouldn't worry about the validator for now.
