Both Firefox and Opera have their quirks and bugs in implementing the
standards, but both are pretty accurate. And aside from the fact that IE6
is lacking support for a number of HTML and CSS features, it works pretty
accurately with most of the HTML/CSS features that it does support. If
your page "looks like crap" in IE6 as you said, there's a possibility that
you've done something wrong (I assume you've validated your XHTML and your
CSS?). But since IE6 lacks support for quite a bit, it's also possible
that you're simply using something that MS didn't see fit to implement (I
had trouble with one of my pages because IE couldn't do what I wanted, even
though CSS could). Unfortunately, regardless of which the cause is, you'll
probably need to make your site work for IE6. As much fun as it might be
to be spiteful and create a site that is perfectly correct but doesn't work
in IE, all it'll serve to do is drive people away. Most IE users don't
_know_ that their browser is crap, and don't care at all about
"standards." As far as they're concerned, IE is the only standard that
matters.
If something looks good in Firefox but not Opera, or vice versa, _then_ you
might get somewhere productive by asking which browser is doing it the
right way. But asking "which is more accurate" is likely to get you three
answers - the die-hard Firefox fans telling you that Firefox is more
accurate, the die-hard Opera fans telling you that Opera is more accurate,
and the people who admit that neither browser's renderer is perfect, but
that both are very good. :)
