IE often has trouble displaying things it ought to. Without having the
time to fully debug your page, I suggest you look at this article on
dealing with IE bugs:
http://www.positioniseverything.net/articles/hollyhack.html
It describes two magic pills for IE (adding position: relative or a
dimension) that I suggest you try before you do anything else.
