Ryan -
It can sometimes seem frustrating to sketch something, write your
markup, and try to put the two together with the ease of a drag and drop
interface. Sometimes it just doesn't work out that way.
However, CSS can be quite liberating to someone who takes the time to
learn it's ins and outs. Like many other skills - and make no mistake,
doing it right is a skill - it takes patience to learn and you never
stop learning.
I found that giving up the WYSIWYG tools and simply switching to
hand-coding made the entire process less cumbersome, not more. And,
when you get in a jam, that's what this list is for. Tons of people
learn as much here as they share or more.
Give it some time, settle down, and try thinking of it less as "design"
and more as "instructions" for the browser. And ask for help if you
need it. We're all willing to point you in the right direction.
Good luck
