Battling with drop down menus - is this possible?

If it's not essential, just use one of the display: table options 
outlined in that link I sent you.  It won't work in IE, but it will 
gracefully degrade, which should be fine for something which is just an 
extra perk.

Not sure what you mean by this.  Right now the left side of the menus 
and their tabs are aligned.  Do you not want this?

That's what it seems to be doing now.
