I think you'll be waiting a very long time. Maybe forever. At least if my
recollection is correct.

I recall reading a discussion about this not long ago on www-style, a W3C
list where the CSS specs are discussed. Someone proposed exactly what
you're suggesting: parent or ancestor selectors. Someone in-the-know
replied that it wasn't going to happen due to technical issues --
impossible, very intensive, or time-consuming to implement, or some such.
Sorry I can't remember the exact details. Yeah, I was kinda disappointed
too.
