New full-length cols method needs opinions and Mac testing

I've got it working well in all the relatively new Windows browsers:

IE 5.01, 5.5, 6
Opera 5, 6, 7
Firefox 1.0PR
Mozilla 1.7
Netscape 6, 7

And apprently it works fine on the Mac in

Safari
Firefox

Only IE5 Mac is a problem. It shows very long scrollbars when the viewport is smaller than the
layout. Any suggestions guys?
