css drop down menus

Sent by Barbara Dozetos on 26 October 2004 17:05

Hi all,

I've been playing with the drop down menus in Eric's 2nd project book
(More Eric Meyers on CSS). I've tinkered so much now, I've started to
lose track of what goes where and why.

The page is here
(http://www.pcc.com/pipermail/testpedtalk/1999-December/000004.html).
Before you jump on me -- the xhtml will not completely validate, and I
don't have total control over it because much of it is generated by the
mailman program. The problems I'm having exist even when I'm dealing
with a file that is solely the nav, so we can't blame it on the XHTML
validation issues.

I'd love some help on the following problems;

1. I'd like a border to appear between top level item and the first li
in the nested list when the drop down appears. For instance, between
"Partner" and "Smarter Software."

2. For some reason, there is a white line showing up between some of
the second level list items in the drop down state. This is definitely
happening in FireFox, but it isn't always between the same items. Very
strange. Any ideas?

3. In IE the word "Welcome is appearing at the end of the nav bar.

Anyone?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Barb
