I would hope not. Tim Berners-Lee's original vision for the Web was "write
once, read anywhere". It would be a sign of failure to have to write one
version of a site for full-sized screens, one version for printing, and
one (or more) versions to cover every handheld device. I think the failure
of handheld browsers to implement the standards is the biggest problem,
not the standards themselves. The CSS3 Media Queries module is of
potential interest and it has experimental support in Opera.
Good luck with your efforts: more research and experimentation is needed
in this area.
