tableless css pedigree

What is this for? What kind of data is being presented?

You need to answer these questions first. You see, CSS is only one 
component of creating standards based design solutions... another 
component is the use of appropriate markup (HTML) to structure your data.

I could recreate the on-screen representation of your table in spans if 
I were so inclined, but that would not solve your problem. It would look 
the same but most definitely not be appropriate.
