Problems with Opera and floats?

Sent by Slaydon, Eugenia on 31 August 2004 14:02

Hi,
I've tried to search for any known bugs with Opera and floats and I didn't
find anything that fit this scenario. Opera is totally hosing this and
stacking the left floating divs instead of running them side by side. (view
in IE6.x or NN7.x for what it should look like)

http://www.beacontec.com/clientviews/eugenia/operafloat.htm

I have a div (used for paging navigation) that I'm floating to the right -
unknown width since the number of pages could be anywhere from 1-10. Within
that div I'm floating left each page link so that I could add background
color/padding/margins to the links. I'm not having any problems with this in
IE 6.x, NN7.x, or Mozilla. I haven't looked at it on a Mac yet and I'm not
worried about NN4. Any suggestions on how to get Opera to quit stacking
these - should I use something besides a div??
I don't want to declare a width on the first div because then I can't right
align the nav.

Thanks,
Eugenia
