Element padding messing up Tuscany site div alignment

Sent by TMH Design on 10 August 2004 17:05

Ok, this may be basic, I would appreciate some help. I am going to a Tuscany
cooking school this next week and I want to surprise them with an improved
web site. I didn't do their current site, www.tastytuscany.com
<http://www.tastytuscany.com/> So looking at what they had, I thought to
make a containing div that was 770 and give it a background. Next, as I saw
it, there site has two columns, one for nav and one for content. I created
three divs therefore, a "containing div, a nav div, and a content div. I
sized them respectively 770, 190, and 580. All was going well until I got
to the point of inserting content in the content div. It was appearing below
the nav div, not adjacent to it. It turns out padding on both a <p> and
<ul><li><a> tags were causing this to happen. I am at a loss how to fix it.
Can someone help me please and I will happily send you a spaghetti sauce
stained postcard from Tuscany if you can, I put the page I am test up at
http://tmh.netdbs.com/index.htm If you scroll down, you will see a red
rectangle which is the content div. Thanks so much, ciao!
