You beat me to it. I was also going to mention PHPWebSite as a possible
alternative. Though, I'm still not sure how modular PWS is, as relates
to clean HTML and/or CSS. I'm currently using myPHPblog
(myphpblog.sf.net) for my sites. It's pretty feature-free at the moment,
however. I'm debating whether to dump it in favor some other system,
hack it to meet my needs, or start from scratch and roll my own 
blogware.
