What is aliasing a style, why is it useful, and how do I do it?

I'm 99% sure that this is just instant-jargon for something simple in
CSS. I've worked with CSS for ages and haven't heard of it. What context
was is mentioned in?

I'm sure someone (or Dorward) will correct me if I'm wrong.

Regards

Dave
