It's probably misunderstood because the concept of vertically centering
content within a block goes back decades (at least) as a design concept,
and CSS just doesn't support it. At all. Instead, we get "float" and
"clear". Way to go, W3C. Next time, wait for the drugs to wear off
before writing the specs, okay guys?
Of course, it's all tied to the nefarious conspiracy to prevent
developers from having any control over relative element heights. But
you didn't hear it from me.
