IE problems

Sent by Rick Pasotto on 29 May 2004 20:08

I have a fairly simple site that does exactly what I want in Mozilla but
has a few problems that I can't figure out in IE.

<http://afclt.org>

On the home page IE shows a big gap between the two div's in the main
content area. Also, IE puts the background image for the content area up
next to the left menu. Mozilla correctly leaves a small space. Changing
the left-margin doesn't seem to help. What do I have wrong?

In working on one of the pages on this site I discovered something that
maybe contradicts what a recent poster wrote. (I no longer have the
message so I don't know who it was.) What he said was that class names
should be 'bare' instead of being preceeded by a tag name. Does this
also apply to id's? I had several bare id's with display:none and it was
being ignored by IE. When I changed the css to div#idname IE worked.
Mozilla got it right either way.

Any suggestions anyone might have about the site would be welcome.

Thanks.
