Mozilla FireFox / Opera div margin troubles

Sent by Michael Goddard on 26 May 2004 17:05

Hi,

I am experiencing this problem with FireFox v0.8 and in Opera 7 for the PC.
If you go to http://www.cincinnati-test.com/gamma_site/template.php You
will see that I am starting a very simple header, navbar and 2 column page
layout using divs. The only positioning that I have done so far is floating
the left bar.

I specified for the margin for the header, navbar and bodycontainer divs to
be 0, thus stacking the divs up nicely. However if you view the page in
FireFox v0.8, there are huge gaps from the top and bottom of the header div
, navbar div and the bodycontainer div. I am assuming that this is a margin
problem?

In Opera, there is only a gap on the top and bottom of the navbar div.

Everything renders correctly in IE6/IE5 (pc only - have not had the time to
check on Mac).

I have searched Google with what I thought is the problem (css mozilla
margins) to try and find the answer, however I'm not exactly sure if that is
what I should be searching for since I am not having a lot of success.

Can anyone give me a push in the right direction as to what I might be doing
wrong here? I am absolutely clueless as to what in the world is going on
with FireFox and Opera.

Thank you for any suggestions or feedback.

Michael Goddard
