You´re right. It IS the damn javascript...

That resolved, for sure, the navigation problem but i was still getting
that messy look on the td#main.
In a perfect "browser-safe world" we shouldn´t need to know all this
browser hacks... but the world isn´t perfect! :-)
My mainly problem is also that i develop in a mac and we just have one
windows machine that is a workplace. Most of the time the machine is
occupied.
Since I hadn´t much experience coding css for IE 5.* win versions
compliance, i trusted that javascript. Lesson learned.

PS - Fixed the #latnav extra margin on IE by using display: inline ...
